Yu Darvish Throws Two Shutout Innings
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Yu Darvish blanked the Kansas City Royals for two innings on Sunday. The veteran hurler was acquired during the offseason from the Chicago Cubs and was making his first start with his new club. He struck out the first two batters he faced in Whit Merrifield and Andrew Benintendi. Darvish appeared to be in midseason form and had his fastball working up into the 96-97 mph range plus his wide range of secondary offerings. Last season, the 34-year-old pitcher had a K-BB of 93-14 in 76 innings of work. He'll likely join Blake Snell, Dinelson Lamet, Joe Musgrove, and Chris Paddack in the Padres' starting rotation.
