Jon Lester To Have Minor Surgery
4 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Jon Lester is having minor surgery to remove his thyroid gland. The Nationals reportedly were aware of this but decided to take care of it during the spring- though manager Davey Martinez believes that Lester could be back pitching in a week. The 37-year-old left-hander signed a one-year deal with Washington a month ago after finishing strong last season with a 1.06 ERA in his last three starts. Overall, the year was a bit of a struggle, as Lester lost a bit of juice on his fastball, which was teed off on for a .639 slugging percentage. He's more of a streaming option at this point in his career.
