FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (3/3/21): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

Every Wednesday of late has been a great slate of NBA games, but this one looks extra enticing for casual fans and DFS players.

Two star-studded match-ups with some particular extra intrigue headline the schedule. James Harden will return to Houston for the first time as a member of the Brooklyn Nets, surely with revenge on his mind. Elsewhere, the Utah Jazz will take the best record in the Western Conference into the home arena of the East’s best team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Those games, and several others, have a few stars and plenty of sleepers worth your eye on FanDuel.

This post will be recommending daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 3/3/20. You can also check out today's DraftKings lineup picks. Keep an eye on Rotoballer’s injury news to stay up to date before lineups are locked.

FanDuel DFS Guards

James Harden, SG – BKN @ HOU ($11,200)

Harden is the most expensive player on the board Wednesday. That’s always a risky proposition. In this case, he’s worth every penny. The Nets will be facing the Rockets, Harden’s former team. The Rockets are in absolute freefall, having lost 12 straight games.

In those 12 games, Houston is allowing more than 118 points per game. Oddly enough, it could have been even worse. Over that stretch, the Rockets have allowed 39 percent shooting on 33 long range attempts per game. The Nets have attempted more than 39 threes per game over their last 12 outings, making better than 41 percent of those looks. Harden will look to stay hot against the team he couldn’t stand to play for this season.

Dennis Schroder, PG – LAL @ SAC ($5,500)

If you join me in taking Harden, there will need to be some concessions made elsewhere in hope of finding a sleeper. Schroder could be the perfect candidate. In two games since returning from an injury, Schroder has posted 17 points and 4 assists per night. That would be great value at this price, yet there’s certainly room for Schroder’s ceiling to raise even higher.

The Kings have been historically bad defensively this season, especially when trying to keep guards out of the lane. The crafty Schroder should have no problem picking his spots and filling the box score.

Gary Trent Jr., SG – POR vs GS ($5,500)

For another strong value play, look to Damian Lillard’s current backcourt running mate. Ever since CJ McCollum was ruled out for several weeks with an injury, Trent has emerged as a secondary scoring option for the Blazers.

In seven games since that news broke, Trent has played 35 minutes per night and added 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. He has room to grow, too. In that stretch, he’s made just 34 percent from long distance. Trent is a 41 percent outside shooter in his career, showing he’s due to have a breakout shooting performance.

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Danny Green, SF – PHI vs UTA ($4,300)

Usually, an injured teammate means more shots and more opportunities for the rest of the team. That’s generally good news for a DFS player looking at other players on the roster. For a defined role player like Danny Green, that hasn’t been the case.

With Tobias Harris and Shake Milton missing time recently, in addition to Joel Embiid’s occasional missed game, Green has struggled. The Sixers rely on Embiid, Harris, and Milton as offensive creators, which opens corner threes for Green. Without them, Green has been miscast, trying to be a bigger part of the offense.

With Milton back and Harris set to return, Green is primed for a strong game in the headline game on Wednesday’s slate between the two first place teams in each conference.

Kristaps Porzingis, SF – DAL vs OKC ($7,800)

Only six teams in the NBA allow more 3-point attempts per game than the Thunder, which should play right into the hands of Kristaps Porzingis. Luka Doncic’s favorite screener will be more than ready to pop for an open jumper time and time again.

This is the first time these two teams have met this season, but in Porzingis’ only game against the Thunder last season he had a double-double and took seven shots from beyond the arc.

Darius Bazley, PF – OKC @ DAL ($5,400)

The young Thunder forward has come on strong of late. In his last two games, he’s averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds per night. Even in last week’s game against the Spurs when Bazley failed to enter the scoring column, he was able to produce by snagging ten rebounds.

That’s the ups and downs you’ll ride with a 20-year old player on a struggling team. For now, his hot streak is worth riding.

FanDuel DFS Centers

Joel Embiid, C – PHI vs. UTAH ($10,400)

There are few players in the NBA putting up numbers as effortlessly and consistently as Embiid this season. He’s failed to post 25 points just twice in the 18 games he’s played since January 15. During that  stretch, he’s added 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists, a block and a steal on a nightly basis.

Even against Rudy Gobert, Embiid is a smart play. Last year in Salt Lake City, the Sixers center went for 27 points and 16 rebounds, with 3 assists. After missing the first meeting between these teams, you can bet Embiid had this date circled on his calendar.
