Austin Voth Sees Improvement In Spring Debut
4 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Austin Voth, who is fighting for a rotation spot with Joe Ross and Erick Fedde this spring, had a 1-2-3 inning in his debut on Monday. After a disastrous 2020 which saw him throw to a 6.41 FIP in 11 starts, Voth identified a couple issues with his delivery, involving his back leg and non-throwing arm. The brevity of 2020 does not apply in Voth's case, as his limited success in 2019 (3.30 ERA, 4.44 xFIP) was based on even fewer innings. He will have to show more than one strong inning this spring to gain that fifth starter's job and even if he does, Voth will begin the year as more of an NL-only type of player.

Austin Voth Inks One-Year Pact With Mariners
1 year agoThe Seattle Mariners have signed free-agent pitcher Austin Voth to a one-year, $1.25 million contract. The 31-year-old worked to a 5.19 ERA across 25 relief outings with the Orioles in 2023 but elbow inflammation bothered him for much of the season and he did not pitch after Aug. 30. Voth has bounced between the rotation and bullpen in parts of six seasons in the big leagues, combining to post a 4.90 ERA across 139 career appearances, 39 of which have been starts. Voth has fared better as a starter, posting a solid 4.23 ERA across 178 2/3 innings as a starter versus a 5.89 ERA in 120 2/3 frames as a reliever. Given the Mariners' starting pitching depth, Voth is likely bullpen-bound in 2024.

Austin Voth Transferred To 60-Day Injured List Monday
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles pitcher Austin Voth (elbow) was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL Monday. The move occurred to make room for newly-claimed pitcher Jacob Webb. While he has begun a rehab assignment, Voth has been dealing with right elbow inflammation since the middle of June, so it will still be some time before he could rejoin the O's. The 31-year-old had posted a lackluster 4.94 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 31 innings of relief prior to his injury.

Austin Voth Shut Down For A Week
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Austin Voth (elbow) is taking anti-inflammatories for his right elbow and has been shut down from throwing for a week after being placed on the injured list on Wednesday with right-elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old right-hander has been dealing with the elbow injury since spring training, so they'll give him a little time off to heal. In 23 appearances out of the bullpen for Baltimore in 2023, Voth has a 4.94 ERA (5.44 FIP), 1.58 WHIP, 14 walks and 31 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched. He's of little use in fantasy leagues and is currently rostered in 0% of Yahoo leagues.
