Ciryl Gane Does What Is Needed To Take Saturday's Main Event
4 years agoRemaining undefeated, French heavyweight Ciryl Gane (8-0) controlled all five rounds to win Saturday's main event. Though it was lackluster overall in fireworks, Gane did what was needed to get the win. In 25 minutes of action, Gane landed 102 significant strikes (128 total strikes) along with only landing two of his 14 takedown tries. Ranked seventh in the UFC's heavyweight division, Gane does not have many options right now with the heavyweight title set to be defended soon. It's possible we get Gane and the winner of last week's main event, Derrick Lewis, in a title eliminator matchup. If so, it will be interesting to see how Gane does against a fighter who is not afraid to get in his face and push the pace.
