Kevin Plawecki Expected To Arrive Shortly
4 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Kevin Plawecki, who was placed on the COVID-19 list at the start of camp, is expected to arrive to spring training within the next day or two, according to manager Alex Cora. Plawecki hit .341/.393/.463 with 17 RBI in 24 games in his first season with the Red Sox. But the soon-to-be 30-year-old has a career slash line of just .229/.312/.344 with 18 home runs and 109 RBI in six big-league seasons with the Mets, Indians and Red Sox. Plawecki is a solid backup for the BoSox, but over a larger sample size, his numbers are expected to take a big step back. Christian Vazquez will be the team's primary backstop, rendering Plawecki mostly useless in the vast majority of fantasy leagues in 2021.
