Tyler Eifert Expected To Become Free Agent
4 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to decline the team option for tight end Tyler Eifert, according to a source. Eifert was expected to earn a little under $5 million for the 2021 season if his option had been picked up, but he'll become a free agent instead. The oft-injured tight end managed to play in 15 games in Jacksonville in 2020, but he caught just 36 passes on 60 targets for 349 yards and two touchdowns in one of the worst offenses in football. The 30-year-old could be productive in the right situation, so his fantasy value heading into 2021 will depend entirely on where he lands and whether he'll have a shot to be a team's top pass-catching tight end. But because of his extensive injury history, Eifert is unlikely to be anything more than an upside low-end TE2.
