Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Working Out at 1B, 3B, OF
4 years agoThe Blue Jays organization is looking to increase Lourdes Gurriel Jr.'s versatility this spring by having him work out at first base, third base, and in the outfield. A shortstop when he signed, the Cuba native has played a number of positions already in his career but was kept mostly to the outfield in 2020. The increased versatility -- if it carries over to the regular season -- will be welcome news for fantasy managers. Gurriel Jr. had a strong offensive season in 2020 when he posted a 135 wRC+ in 57 games. He was also on pace for well over 20 home runs for the second straight season thanks in part to a hard-hit ball rate of 49.4%, which was among the top 9% in the league.
