Luis Arraez Ready For Challenge Of Playing Left Field
4 years agoMinnesota Twins utility man Luis Arraez said he's feeling "way better than last year" and is "looking forward to the challenge of playing left field." Arraez had a stint on the injured list last season due to knee tendinitis and an ankle sprain, though he said that strengthening his knees was a focus of his offseason training with the team's staff. The 23-year-old slumped through last season at times, but he still finished with a strong .321/.364/.406 slash line with just 11 strikeouts in 121 plate appearances despite failing to hit a homer. The signing of Andrelton Simmons pushes Jorge Polanco to second base and Arraez to a utility role, though the Twins could be hard-pressed to keep his bat out of the lineup, depending on how he performs in left field, which is something that will be worth watching this spring. He's a good late-round source for both average and on-base percentage in fantasy drafts.
