Ross Chastain nearly bottoms out, should stay on lead lap.
4 years agoChastain just does not qualify all that well at Daytona and yet despite that, the racer finds a way. What does that mean? The Chevy engine has served him well in the past and even has a tenth place finish in the 2019 edition of the Daytona 500. In five races at the track, Chastain has improved his overall position by at least eight spots four times. That includes a few mercurial rises (20+ spot jumps twice). If Chastain can stay on the lead lap then he may pull it off again on Sunday.
