Royals Acquire Andrew Benintendi In Trade With Red Sox
4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Boston Red Sox in a three-way deal that included the New York Mets. Benintendi will give the Royals a solid boost in their outfield, likely replacing the retired Alex Gordon in left field. Last year, Benintendi only played in 14 games before a rib cage strain sidelined him for the rest of the year. He struggled during his time on the field last year, slashing .103/.314/.128 with just one home run and 17 strikeouts over 52 plate appearances. Hopefully a change of scenery will help Benintendi get back on track. He figures to have a prime spot high up in the Royals order this year.
