Leon Draisaitl Shows His Power-Play Prowess
4 years agoEdmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl scored a pair of power-play goals, mounting a comeback for Edmonton that eventually fell short Thursday night against the Maple Leafs. Draisaitl is now on a five-game goal streak and has two points in each of his last three games. With 13 points in nine games, Draisaitl is tied for the second-most points in the league and tied for fifth in points per game (1.44 points per game) among skaters that have played in at least five games. After finishing last season at the top of the league in both of those categories, it is no surprise to see him in the top five already this season. Another trend carrying over to this year is a high percentage of Draisaitl's points coming on the power play, with 46 percent of his points this season coming with the man advantage compared to 40 percent last year.

Leon Draisaitl Not Ready To Return This Week
1 week agoEdmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (undisclosed) is expected to remain out for this week's action. The Oilers begin a three-game slate on Wednesday against the Dallas Stars. Edmonton has already been without Draisaitl for two games as the German superstar battles an undisclosed injury. Connor McDavid (lower body) joined Draisaitl on the shelf at the weekend, making Ryan Nugent-Hopkins the team's new first-line center. The absence of the star duo also gave Adam Henrique an opportunity to work as the second-line center on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken, where he opened the scoring on a power play in an eventual 5-4 victory for the Oilers.

Leon Draisaitl Ruled Out For Saturday
2 weeks agoEdmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl (undisclosed) will remain sidelined on Saturday evening when the Oilers face the Seattle Kraken. Draisaitl was unable to suit up in their previous contest on Thursday evening with this same injury. Before Thursday's contest, head coach Kris Knoblauch noted that the team is taking a "cautious" approach. In addition, Connor McDavid (lower body) will also miss Saturday's contest and will leave the Edmonton offense shorthanded. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Draisaitl's status, as the team has yet to provide a definitive timetable. Since the start of the month (nine games), Draisaitl has tallied 13 points with five goals. While Draisaitl and McDavid remain sidelined, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Adam Henrique will operate as the top centers in the offense.
