Yankees Acquire Greg Allen
4 years agoThe New York Yankees are in the process of acquiring outfielder Greg Allen from the San Diego Padres on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander James Reeves, a 27-year-old who was New York's 10th-round pick in 2015. Allen, 27, was designated for assignment last week in order to clear room for Japanese infielder Ha-Seong Kim. The Friars acquired Allen last summer from Cleveland in the trade that also brought right-hander Mike Clevinger to San Diego. Allen played in just one game for the Padres. He's a defense-first outfielder, producing a .239/.298/.343 career slash line with eight home runs. Allen was a sixth-round pick by Cleveland in the 2014 draft out of San Diego State University. He'll provide outfield depth in the Bronx.
