Red Sox Have Serious Interest In Jake Odorizzi
4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox have serious interest in right-handed pitcher Jake Odorizzi, according to a source. Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom was with the Rays front office when Tampa Bay acquired Odorizzi in December of 2012, so there is familiarity between the two. Odorizzi is in the middle tier of free-agent starters and had a right intercostal strain, a chest contusion and a right middle finger blister that limited him to four starts with the Twins in 2020. The 30-year-old was an All-Star in 2019 when he went 15-7 with a 3.51 ERA with a career-high 178 strikeouts in 159 innings for Minnesota. Odorizzi had a 3.82 ERA in five seasons in Tampa before signing with the Twins. Just like in real life, he'll be a potential value selection in fantasy drafts after he dealt with multiple injuries in the shortened 2020 season.
