Ty Montgomery Excels As Fill-In Starter
4 years agoNew Orleans Saints running back Ty Montgomery carried the ball 18 times for 105 rushing yards and caught a pass for two receiving yards in a big win over Carolina. With starters Alvin Kamara (COVID-19) and Latavius Murray (close contact) both ruled out for the game, the lead back role was thrust into Montgomery's hands, who literally took it and ran with it. He averaged an impressive 5.8 yards per carry, ripping off a long run of 36 yards. Kamara's status for the playoff opener may be in jeopardy, meaning Murray and Montgomery could form a running back committee against the Bears.
