Jazz forward/center Derrick Favors is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 2 of the NBA season.

ANALYSIS: Although drafted by the Nets all the way back in the summer of 2010, Derrick Favors has been a Jazz-man for his whole career. His six months in New Jersey or last season in New Orleans are not going to change that perception, even less so now that Utah ponied up the cash to bring him back as a free agent to serve as Rudy Gobert's prime backup.

Go Premium, Win More!Even though Favors logged a measly 16 minutes in Utah's opener, odds are those minutes and opportunities go up steadily rest-of-season. You don't pay a man almost $10 million to run him for just 15 minutes and close shop.
Even on such low plying time and using a ridiculous 13 percent of offensive possessions, Favors finished his first game back with the Jazz putting up a 10-7-3 line against Portland. I know it serves no purpose but I was intrigued by that bulked up line in such short playing time, so I looked at stat lines from the first game of the season of every team. 26 guys posted a 10-7-3 line, and Favors was the only one to reach those stats in fewer than 24 minutes.
Utah, do your job and play Derrick. Fantasy GMs, do yours and take Favors off the WW.
