San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is unlikely to play in his team's final two games following Week 15. Garoppolo, who was placed on the injured reserve with an ankle injury in November, has yet to take the practice field and is already looked at as doubtful for Week 16. It's been a disappointing season for the 29-year-old, who will be facing some question marks heading into the fourth year of a five-year deal he signed back in 2018. Garoppolo could be a draft-day value in 2021 if he's able to get himself healthy.--Tim Capurso

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said he "absolutely" wants backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to re-sign with the team this offseason despite the fact that the Rams are keeping starter Matthew Stafford for another season. Garoppolo played in only one game in 2024 in the Week 18 regular-season finale when all the starters were rested before the playoffs. In the loss to the division-rival Seattle Seahawks, the 33-year-old veteran went 27-for-41 for 334 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. McVay has been high on Jimmy G and was reportedly even comfortable with using him as the starter in 2025 if the Rams couldn't work out a restructured deal with Stafford and were forced to trade him this offseason. Whether Garoppolo stays in L.A. will all depend on if he can find a legitimate chance to start elsewhere on the open market.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Athletic's Dianna Russini says that the Los Angeles Rams are comfortable with Jimmy Garoppolo as their starting quarterback. Current QB Matthew Stafford is looking for over $50 million per year on a possible two-year deal worth up to $110 million. Stafford and his agent are currently reaching out to other teams that might be interested in trading for him to see if they'd pay him what he's seeking. If no other NFL team wants to give him $50 million a year, then he might come back to the Rams and take less to stay in LA for another year or two. The 37-year-old has two years left on his deal with the Rams, and the team is currently debating whether they want to move forward with the aging signal-caller. Garoppolo would definitely be a downgrade under center. He started one game in 2024 and threw for 334 yards, two touchdowns and a pick in Week 18 against the Seahawks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo made his Rams debut on Sunday against the Seahawks. Despite playing mostly with second-string skill players, he racked up 334 passing yards to go with two touchdowns and one interception along with five rushing yards. Without much of a ground game, Jimmy G attempted 41 passes and finished with 27 completions (65.8% completion percentage). Next week, he's expected to return to his role as backup QB to Matthew Stafford as the Rams host a game in the wild-card round against either the Lions or Vikings. Whenever the Rams season concludes, the veteran will be a free agent, but his strong showing in Week 18 should help him find work as a backup, either with the Rams or another team next season.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will make his first start of the season when the Rams host the Seahawks in their regular season finale. With their playoff spot secure, the Rams will rest multiple starters including Matthew Stafford, letting Jimmy G see his first action of the season. The 33-year-old backup signed a one-year deal with the Rams and will be a free agent after this season. He last played in 2023 for the Raiders when he completed 110 of 169 pass attempts (65.1%) for 1,205 yards in 12 games with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. He's RotoBaller's QB29 this week and is not a good fantasy option since the Rams won't have their starters on offense, but they'll likely face most of the Seahawks' regulars.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller
