Mets Willing To Talk Extension With Michael Conforto
4 years agoThe New York Mets, under new owner Steve Cohen and president Sandy Alderson, have been willing to discuss a contract extension with outfielder Michael Conforto. However, Conforto's agent, Scott Boras, doesn't anticipate talks to start until the two sides begin arbitration negotiations. The 27-year-old has one year remaining until he becomes a free agent and is coming off one of his best seasons, hitting .322/.412/.927 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 54 games. An extension could cost the Mets around $115-125 million over six seasons. The 2020 season was a small sample size, but Conforto has proven in recent seasons that he's among the team's most consistent offensive producers when he's been healthy.
