Mike Davis Set To Lead Backfield In Week 14
4 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Mike Davis will be in the saddle once again for his team as the lead back against the Broncos. Davis has bumped up the depth chart after Christian McCaffrey (shoulder, quad) reportedly tweaked his quad in practice as he neared a return. Davis hasn't exactly impressed in his last three games as the starter, as he's plodded to 3.9 yards per carry and hasn't caught more than three passes in any of the contests. Over the last four weeks, Denver has ceded 502 rushing yards and a league-high six touchdowns to halfbacks, though they've also allowed just 85 receiving yards in that span. This could be the week where Davis gets going on the ground again, though his lack of receiving work lately makes him an RB2 rather than a locked-in RB1 like earlier in the year.
