Rishi Patel identifies players at QB, RB, WR, and TE to target or add from the waiver wire in deep fantasy football leagues for Week 14 of the 2020 NFL season.
The fantasy playoffs may be starting for many leagues, which means now is the time to get your team prepared for a hopeful deep playoff run. Many players could still end up on the COVID list, while others are nursing injuries, so depth is especially important.
At this point, the deepest parts of the waiver wire are not brimming with elite talent, but there are a few serviceable players you could stash for the playoffs.
Let’s look at those potential adds for Week 14. As always, players will be rostered at or below 15% in Yahoo leagues.

Free Agent Quarterbacks
Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys - 13% rostered
In the last two contests he has played, Dalton has posted over 200 yards and is a proven veteran in the NFL. With a four touchdown to two interception ratio in the past two games, Dalton’s numbers aren’t eye-opening, but he could certainly be serviceable in important playoff matchups ahead if you are in a bind at QB.
Mike Glennon, Jacksonville Jaguars - 3% rostered
Mike Glennon hasn’t been great, but he hasn’t been completely terrible in the past two games. On the bright side, he has posted over 235 yards in both contests. On the not so bright side, he has thrown two picks. When balancing this out, it makes Glennon a slightly risky, but reasonable add off this part of the waiver wire considering the other QB options have much worse numbers and performances. For now, this QB is the Jags’ starter going forward.
Free Agent Running Backs
Ty Johnson, New York Jets - 1% rostered
Due to Frank Gore sustaining a concussion, Ty Johnson shouldered a huge load in Week 13 and finished with 22 carries for 104 yards and a score. Johnson is an intriguing player going forward because if Gore misses time, he could take on a workhorse role which would provide much value for fantasy. For now, stash him and see how things play out.
Free Agent Wide Receivers
Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears - 12% rostered
The WR2 on the Bears, Mooney has seen at least five targets in nine of 12 games this season. His role has grown tremendously, and the rookie is now a big part of this offense. The only thing is Mooney hasn’t put up huge yardage each week despite his good number of targets. He has only eclipsed 40 yards in five of 12 games. Still, his target share makes him worth stashing as depth.
Denzel Mims, New York Jets - 11% rostered
In six games played this season, Mims has gotten at least 40 yards in all of them. On top of that, he has seen at least seven targets in four of those six games. With a steady role in this offense now, Mims is a strong add for the fantasy playoffs despite being on the league’s worst team.
Rashard Higgins, Cleveland Browns - 8% rostered
With OBJ out, somebody on the Browns’ WR corp sans Jarvis Landry needed to step up. Higgins has been doing that…in some weeks. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent, but can be quite effective when he’s in a groove. The WR has at least three receptions, four targets, and 48 yards in three of the past four games. He had 95 yards in Week 13. All in all, Higgins is a solid add given Baker Mayfield is giving him more targets lately.
Josh Reynolds, Los Angeles Rams - 8% rostered
The Rams’ WR3 had an off-day in Week 13, only getting 21 yards on one reception. Nevertheless, Reynolds had seen at least five targets in six consecutive games prior to Week 13. He has also had at least 40 yards in seven of 12 games. This makes him worth a stash.
Dez Bryant, Baltimore Ravens - 8% rostered
After a couple of years off the field, Dez Bryant returns to the NFL and on a squad that has not many reliable pass-catching options. Dez is an intriguing stash and could be of service in the playoffs depending on how he is used and how large his role is. This is a wait-and-see type of pickup.
Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons - 7% rostered
Though very inconsistent, Gage has had some good games recently. He has now seen at least five targets in the past four games. In four of the past seven games, Gage also has at least 50 yards. He could be of flex value in fantasy due to being on this potent Falcons offense. This makes him a solid add.
Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions - 2% rostered
The veteran has quietly put up decent numbers for the Lions this season. Amendola has seen at least four targets in seven of 10 games played in addition to getting at least 54 yards in six of 10 games. He’s worth stashing as he could provide flex value.
Chad Hansen, Houston Texans - 0% rostered
With the Texans down a lot of WRs, Chad Hansen came out of nowhere in Week 13 to haul in five receptions for 101 yards on seven targets. Though that was an encouraging performance, it remains to be seen whether he can build on this. Thus, Hansen is worth stashing but nothing more than that as of now.
Free Agent Tight Ends
Tyler Eifert, Jacksonville Jaguars - 6% rostered
In eight of 10 games played this season, Eifert has seen at least four targets. Unfortunately, he has only gotten over 30 yards four times this season. An encouraging sign is that he has over 30 yards in two of the past three games. Hopefully, the TE can build on these performances and he is worth stashing if you need the depth.
Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams - 5% rostered
In 11 games played this season, Everett has seen at least four targets in six of them. And though modest, the TE has gotten at least 25 yards in eight of 11 games. The TE2 on the Rams is worth stashing right now at a position thin with terrific fantasy talent.
Drew Sample, Cincinnati Bengals - 1% rostered
The Bengals currently have a QB problem, but Sample has posted at least 40 yards in the past two games. He has also seen at least four targets in the past three games. Though we shouldn’t expect Sample to breakout going forward due to the QB situation and his generally small role on this offense, he is worth stashing for now considering his recent “success.”
