Robert Tonyan (TE, GB) - Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: No freaking tight end is winning you the league, nor your weekly fantasy contests, nor whatever you want to say/write/put in here--unless you have Travis Kelce, obviously. The tight end position is a dessert, and a post-apocalyptic thing bringing only bad things with him. Robert Tonyan was a bright light for three weeks in the W2-W5 span, but that seemed to be it. Good for fantasy GMs, he might be back at it again.

Tonyan finished W11 with 15.4 PPR points, which is the fourth time he's reached that mark in 2020 and the fifth he's finished with 10+ PPR points in a single game. After scoring four TDs in his first four games (mostly due to a three-score performance in W4), Tonyan had not scored any other touchdown again. He found paydirt against Indy on a 5-of-5 pass-catching performance that went for 44 yards.

With the Packers having a one-man receiving corps in Davante Adams, the likes of MVS, Allen Lazard, and Robert Tonyan are the ones left to eat the remaining crumbles. It was Tonyan's time this past weekend, but that might repeat itself going forward as the Packers only face a top-20 defense against fantasy TEs ROS (Detroit in Week 8).

Tonyan could legit turn into a league-winning tight end to roster/stream/set-and-forget from now on given his sweet matchups. I'd advise doing that in every 14+ team league, almost in every 12+ team league, and in a few shallower formats if you happen to lack options at the position.
