Cowboys To Start Garrett Gilbert Against Steelers
4 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys plan to start quarterback Garrett Gilbert against the Steelers in Week 9, according to sources. Gilbert has taken the majority of repetitions at practice this week. Cooper Rush will back Gilbert up on Sunday. Dallas went with rookie Ben DiNucci last week, but he failed to deliver in the Week 8 loss to the division-rival Eagles, losing two fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Gilbert has attempted six passes in the NFL since he was drafted in 2014, making him a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues. With Dallas on bye in Week 10, it's likely that Andy Dalton will be cleared from the COVID-19 list in time to play in Week 11, so this Sunday will probably be just a one-game audition for Gilbert. Continue to downgrade Dallas' skill position players with Dalton out another week.
