JaMycal Hasty (RB, SF) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: For a player that has logged 6, 2, 15, and 14 snaps in the four games he's played, it is rather incredible that virtually all fantasy GMs are running after him these days. That's JaMycal Hasty for you, folks, or should I say that's San Francisco's injury-filled backfield?

During the past few weeks, both Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman fell down to different injuries. This past Sunday, Jeff Wilson Jr. was the last man to join the Injured Buddies Club after he had to leave the game with an ankle injury. If only for a week (we're yet to know the severity of Wilson's injury), Hasty will get that coveted RB1 role against Seattle next weekend, and the Seahawks rank 12th in preventing fantasy points from RBs this season.

Hasty, on a rather low usage (10 opportunities in back-to-back weeks, similar 9-carries, 1-target games in those two weeks), has scored 3.7 and 8.3 PPR points in the last couple of 49ers matches. He played just 15 and 14 snaps respectively compared to the much-healthier Mostert's (35 in W6), McKinnon's (23 in W6), and Wilson's (37) tallies. Hasty should be the next in line to get those snaps, though.

Hasty is probably far from a smash WW addition given what he's shown so far this season, but he's one of the few RB1 (the only one?) available for free these days in most leagues. Make sure to get him if only for a game this next week, keep him in your roster for Week 9 (Green Bay ranks dead-last at stopping RBs), and feel free to drop him in Week 10 (New Orleans, 14th-best D against the position) with the bye looming in Week 11.
