Tua Tagovailoa (QB, MIA) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Dolphins quarterback (QB) Tua Tagovailoa is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 8 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: It's Tua Time, folks. We made it. It took us--or rather, Miami--seven weeks after a full offseason to make the decision, but here we are. You gotta feel bad for mighty Ryan Fitzpatrick after his great start to the season, but this is the right move by the Dolphins looking ahead and with their sight on the future of the franchise.

Not until we actually watch Tua on the field are we going to get a good idea of what he is or is not capable of. Fitz, without being a top-tier quarterback, was able to elevate Miami through six games, though, which bodes well for younger Tua. Fitz is known as a boom-or-bust player, of course, but he posted 18+ FP in every one of his last five matches and finished at 21+ in four of those, topping at 27.6 in Week 5.

I'm not saying Tua is going to reach those benchmarks starting in Week 8, but given what both Joe Burrow and (most of all, as he was ranked lower) Justin Herbert have done in the NFL so far as mere rookies, expectations are rather high for Tua.

So far in one game last week, Tua completed 100% of his passes already (he threw two). No, seriously. Jokes aside, Tua should get up to speed in no time and become a viable starter at least in 2QB leagues from the get-go. The Rams aren't the best matchup (9th-best at preventing fantasy points from QBs) but Miami will face the 30th-, 22nd-, and 20th-best defenses at it. Tua should come out of that three-game span with at least a couple of Ws.
