Robert Whittaker Wins a Hard-Fought Battle
4 years agoRobert Whittaker, the top-ranked contender for the middleweight title, took care of business Saturday, defeating the second-ranked Jared Cannonier by a unanimous decision. Whittaker showed his foot speed and ability to reel off combos, throwing Cannonier off his game plan. Through 15 minutes of action, Whittaker landed 69 significant strikes (75 total strikes) along with missing on both of his takedown attempts on the night. With the solid performance, Whittaker may have earned himself a spot in the next title match with Israel Adesanya. Fantasy wise, Whittaker may not be worth rostering if that is the matchup that indeed takes place.
