Denny Hamlin Starts Seventh At Texas
4 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin will start from the seventh position in Sunday's Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Hamlin comes into Texas looking to rebound after a disappointing 15th-place finish at Kansas. Hamlin has enjoyed success at Texas, scoring three wins in 29 career starts, but outside of a win in 2019, Hamlin's recent history has been very inconsistent. In his last 10 starts at the 1.5-mile track, Hamlin has finished 20th or worse in six of them. In July, Hamlin did lead 11 laps but got involved in multiple incidents towards the end of the race, dropping him to a 20th-place finish. Hamlin's DFS salary is towards the top, but he does have some room to improve in position differential. Hamlin will look to change the narrative about him choking during the playoffs, so expect a strong effort from the No. 11 team. Hamlin has been a contender just about everywhere the Cup Series has gone this year, but there are better-valued drivers on the slate.
