Matt Ryan's Future In Atlanta In Question?
4 years agoAtlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank has admiration for quarterback Matt Ryan, but he didn't fully commit to the former MVP signal-caller as the quarterback of the future as the franchise looks for a new head coach and general manager. The Falcons cut ties with head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff on Sunday after an 0-5 start to the season. Ryan, 35, wants to play into his 40s, but Blank said the decision on whether Ryan will stick around long term in Atlanta won't be up to him. The QB has three years and $74.75 million left on his deal and will count $40,912,500 against the 2021 salary cap. Ryan has looked like an aging quarterback this year and has thrown for fewer than 285 yards without a touchdown each of the last two weeks. He should be considered a low-end QB1 in Week 6 against the Vikings.
