Jimmie Johnson Starts 18th At Las Vegas
4 years agoHendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson will start from the 18th position in Sunday night's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Since a late surge to try to get into the playoffs ended with a crash at Daytona, Johnson has struggled mightily, with no finish better than 17th, in the last three Cup races. Johnson has had a lot of past success at LVMS, with four wins in 21 starts, but it hasn't been since 2010 that Johnson has visited victory lane. However, Johnson did run well in the February race at Vegas, finishing fifth. Johnson's salary in DFS is a little above the average mark, but he does have some room to benefit from a positive position differential. The case can be made for Johnson being a solid lineup choice, but with how rough his season has gone, it may be best to wait until some results are shown.
