Los Angeles Angels second baseman Luis Rengifo (hamstring) will land on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain, thereby ending his 2020 campaign. After an off-season in which he was nearly dealt, Rengifo struggled mightily at the dish to the tune of a .156/.269/.200 slash line with two extra-base hits across 33 games. At just 23 years old, Rengifo still has a future with the Angels, although fantasy managers can likely look elsewhere for production heading into ‘21.--Jesse Borek

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (mouth) is out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates after having a root canal on Monday, according to manager Ron Washington. Rengifo was cleared to play, but Washington wanted Kevin Newman to get a chance to play against Pirates left-hander Bailey Falter, who he has gone 5-for-11 against in his career. Newman is starting at third base and is batting in the nine-hole for the Halos, though, so he will still be a poor choice for DFS lineups with little fantasy upside. Fantasy managers should expect Rengifo to return to the Angels' starting lineup at third base on Wednesday. The 28-year-old Venezuelan infielder has gotten off to a slow start offensively in 2025, going 17-for-78 (.218) with a homer, seven RBI, no steals and eight runs scored in his first 21 games played.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. There was some concern that Rengifo would miss this game after exiting early on Friday due to hamstring tightness. Luckily, Rengifo only appears to have exited for precautionary reasons and will still suit up for this game. The Angels are without Yoan Moncada (thumb), so Rengifo will cover third base and bat second against right-hander Tanner Bibee. Fantasy managers can safely get Rengifo back into their lineups.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (hamstring) left Friday's contest early against the visiting Cleveland Guardians with left-hamstring tightness, according to MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger. Before leaving, Rengifo went 1-for-2 with a double. He was replaced at second base by Kyren Paris. While fantasy managers should consider the 28-year-old day-to-day until further notice, it should be noted that Rengifo also missed some time in spring training with a left-hamstring injury that could be related. We wouldn't be surprised if it's an injury that sends him to the injured list, but we'll wait for more information. At the very least, Rengifo probably won't be available for Game 2 of the series on Saturday at Angel Stadium. The Venezuelan switch-hitting infielder came into Friday's game hitting just .174 (4-for-23) in the early going with a double and RBI in six games. If Rengifo misses extended time with this injury, Paris, Tim Anderson and Nicky Lopez are all candidates to see time at the keystone.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (hamstring) is back in the team's split-squad Cactus League lineup on Friday against the division-rival Athletics and is playing third base and batting leadoff. It's the first spring game for Rengifo in the month of March after dealing with hamstring tightness and being scratched from the lineup multiple times last week. The 28-year-old utility infielder has a few weeks to get ready for Opening Day, but if he has any more setbacks, he'll likely need to start the regular season on the injured list. If he's healthy by March 27, Rengifo should be in the Angels' lineup regularly between third base, shortstop and second base. He was initially eased into spring action after having wrist surgery last August. Rengifo's speed, contact abilities and positional versatility make him a late-round target as infield depth in fantasy leagues. UPDATE: Manager Ron Washington thinks Rengifo has enough time to get ready for Opening Day as long as he doesn't have any setbacks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
