BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED: 48% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Baker Mayfield barely made it to my weekly waiver wire posts, but his under-50% rostered rate was enough for me to consider writing about him. Mayfield is far from an unknown asset, that's right, but it doesn't make much sense to still find him available for free in more than half fantasy leagues out there... Mayfield finished last season as the QB20 in PPG (17.0) but he grew with the season development and turned a 14.7 first-half average into a much better 19.2 one from weeks 10 to 17. That, precisely, could happen in 2020 too.
After a middling debut of just 10.9 fantasy points in Week 1, Mayfield stepped up his game a bit last Thursday to reach 18.3 FP to the tune of a much more efficient game in which he completed 69.6% of his passes (16 of 23; instead of 21 of 39 in W1...), got to 219 yards through the air, passed for two touchdowns, and only threw one interception. The picks will probably keep coming and you'll have to live with them (he had a virtual 1:1 TD:INT ratio last season finishing 22:21) but Mayfield should still reach 25 TDs over the year with upside for more if the stacked Browns offense catches up a bit.
With Washington looming for his Week 3 matchup, Mayfield looks like a nice bet to have another good performance in his third outing of the year. The Footies limited Wentz to a one-half showcase by cutting his production in the third and fourth quarters of Week 1, but even with that Wentz finished with 21.7 FP, 270 passing yards, and a couple of touchdowns. You won't probably find Baker in your WW, but if you do, don't hesitate on getting him because he will only improve his numbers through the year.
