4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (head) suffered a concussion in Week 1 against the Cardinals and is in the league's concussion protocol, according to a league source. When he's good to go he'll take over for Richard Sherman (calf), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. The Niners are suddenly thin in the secondary, but it might not matter much in Week 2 against a Jets offense that is already reeling and just lost running back Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) for at least three weeks. Witherspoon had a solo tackle in the Week 1 loss and managed 28 combined tackles, an interception returned for a touchdown and nine passes defensed in 10 games (eight starts) in 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
