After winning the RBC Heritage a few weeks ago, Justin Thomas has vaulted his way back into the PGA Tour's short list of candidates fans and experts are looking to win nearly every week they play. That talent was on full display in Hilton Head, ranking inside the top five for the week in both strokes gained putting (+1.38) and on approach (+0.96). Accuracy off the tee is the only fear this week at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, though it wasn't a big concern at a similarly distanced and tight Harbour Town course. Like many of the guys at the very top of the board, the focus is as much on Quail Hollow next week as their current stop. Especially for J.T., who has already won a PGA Championship there. Though at $11,800, Thomas is a worthy candidate to make another splash here before making the trip to Charlotte.

After a near miss at the Valspar, Justin Thomas seemed like a decent option at Augusta National before barely making the cut and shooting 76 on Saturday to completely foil his chances. It was his first time losing strokes on approach for an event in nine months, and he clearly looked puzzled in the televised shots throughout the week. He'll turn his sights now to Harbour Town Golf Links, where he would have been a more likable option before last week. However, putting and chipping are currently a bigger strength than we're used to seeing from Thomas, and if his poor showing at ANGC was more a fluke than a trend in his game, he'll be a fine start on Thursday at $11,400 on FanDuel.

Justin Thomas finished second at the Valspar Championship last month and is now focusing on preparing for this week's Masters Tournament at Augusta National. He has not missed a cut in any of his eight starts this season and has four top-10 finishes. However, he did miss the cut at last year's Masters Tournament. Over the past 12 months, Thomas ranks in the 79th percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's Masters Tournament, over 37% of approach shots came from this distance. Thomas may go overlooked this week, but he could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups.

It was a weird week for Justin Thomas at TPC Sawgrass, as the course record-tying 62 shot on Friday was coupled with three rather uninspiring rounds. Looking back, his great second day was needed just to make the weekend after an opening round, 78 had things looking bleak for the former Players Champion. That speaks to the talent that the 31-year-old still has, but the frustrating reality of the state of his golf game for the last couple of years. This week's event at Innisbrook has been a somewhat frequent stop for J.T. through the years. In seven career starts, he's racked up one top 5, two top 10s, and two top 20s; mostly due to great ball striking. Over his last 16 rounds on the Copperhead Course, the former Alabama golfer has averaged +1.258 strokes gained on approach. This week could be a much-needed confidence booster depending on what player shows up to the first tee on Thursday. Regardless, Thomas is worth whatever the risk, even at $11,900 on FanDuel.
