McKinnon tore his ACL prior to the 2018 season, then was forced to miss the entire 2019 season after having setbacks from offseason knee surgery. The fact that he was able to contribute in such a big way in his first NFL game after two seasons on Injured Reserve is something quite remarkable.
Raheem Mostert is the team's clear No. 1 back for now and he dominated both touches and snaps in Week 1. Mostert carried the ball 15 times in the game and caught four of his five targets. He saw 37 snaps, nearly double the 19 snaps McKinnon saw.
Kyle Shanahan's offense is a dream for running backs. It propelled Devonta Freeman into fantasy stardom in Atlanta and has led to some massive weeks for San Francisco backs such as Carlos Hyde, Matt Breida and of course Mostert over the past three years.
McKinnon should continue to see at least around five targets in the passing game and a few carries per game as well. If he can continue to progress and give the offense a spark, his workload could increase even more. Add him in all PPR leagues of 12 teams or deeper.
