BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Washington Football Team running back Peyton Barber served as the team's primary ball-carrier in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Barber received 17 of the team's 29 hand-offs and rushed for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Antonio Gibson was second on the team in carries with nine, while J.D. McKissic was the only other back to receive a carry, earning three.
Barber was extremely inefficient with his carries, averaging just 1.7 yards per carry, but the fact that he was able to find the endzone twice is promising for his outlook going forward. He's the only back on the team who is built to be a solid short-yardage and goal-line back. Gibson and McKissic are both better-suited in pass-catching roles.
Barber is worth adding in leagues of 12 teams or deeper and has more value in non-PPR than PPR. He didn't receive a single target in the passing game in Week 1 as McKissic and Gibson earned five and two targets, respectively. Still, Barber projects to see somewhere around 15 carries per game going forward with solid touchdown upside, making him a viable flex option or even a potential RB2 in deep leagues.
