Tyler Stephenson Making First Career Start On Thursday
4 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is making his first MLB start on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. He is batting seventh in the game. Stephenson made his MLB debut back in a July 28th game against the Cubs. He entered the game in the seventh inning and went on to go 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk, but he was sent to the team's alternate site right after the game where he remained until this recent call-up. The Reds have rotated between Tucker Barnhart and Curt Casali at catcher this year. We could see Stephenson make a few starts a week going forward, but he certainly shouldn't see consistent playing time. Stephenson showed solid plate discipline and some power potential in the minors. He's worth monitoring for dynasty owners.
