Joel Dahmen caught a stroke of luck last week in Texas. For one, the American golfer and everyone else did not face the expected deluge. Second, Dahmen finished above the cut line after the second round. As a result, Dahmen stayed around for the weekend and was able to make a charge inside the Top 20 (T-18). It was a nice rebound after missing the cut at the Valspar Championship. Dahmen enjoyed Top 10 results sandwiched between another clunker at Scottsdale. He does not putt all that consistently. Dahmen ranks 181st in putting strokes gained (-0.633). Worse, he averages only 28.74 putts per round which is a respectable 59th. Dahmen has issues with putts of short and intermediate length alike. Those Par 5's could be a real issue this week.

Joel Dahmen missed the cut at last week's Valspar Championship and is now focused on preparing for the Texas Children's Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course. This marks Dahmen's first missed cut in his last three tournaments. He also missed the cut at last year's Texas Children's Houston Open. Over the past 12 months, Dahmen has ranked in the 92nd percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because over 38% of approach shots at last year's Texas Children's Houston Open came from that distance. Including Dahmen in DFS lineups this week carries some risk.

Joel Dahmen finished tied for 54th at last week's The PLAYERS Championship. He is now preparing for this week's Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Inn. Dahmen's form has improved significantly since the start of the 2025 season. After missing the cut in three of his first four events, he has one top-10 finish and has not missed a cut since then. Over the past 12 months, Dahmen ranks in the 88th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because, at last year's Valspar Championship, 37% of approach shots came from this distance. While Dahmen may be overlooked this week, including him in DFS lineups does carry some risk.

Joel Dahmen has had a rollercoaster start to 2025 with three missed cuts and two top-10 finishes in his first five events, including a T6 finish last week at the Mexico Open. He now looks to carry that momentum into the Cognizant Classic, a tournament he has played in three times, missing the cut twice. PGA National is a very unforgiving course that demands precision on approach, an area where Dahmen excels. He currently ranks 21st in strokes gained on approach and sits in the 93rd percentile in proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of approach shots at this course. Although Dahmen has struggled to string together back-to-back strong finishes in his career, his price tag of $7,000 and solid approach play make him a worthwhile flier for fantasy managers this week.
