David Peterson Shines In Relief Appearance
David Peterson threw four solid innings in relief in the Mets' 9-4 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. Peterson allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out one batter over his four innings of work. Peterson (4-1) now boasts a 3.03 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 29 2/3 inning pitched on the season. At this point, it remains unclear if Peterson will rejoin the starting rotation since manager Luis Rojas was non-committal to returning him to a starting role after the contest. It makes little sense for the Mets to place Peterson, arguably the Mets' second-best starting pitcher in 2020, into the bullpen given the lack of rotational depth and ineffectiveness of Michael Wacha and Rick Porcello. Then again, we are talking about the same dysfunctional team that moved their best reliever, Seth Lugo, into the starting rotation and that insists on continuing to use Edwin Diaz as their closer. Should Peterson inexplicably remain in the bullpen, his fantasy value takes a huge hit. Managers should monitor the situation since the Mets appear to be flying by the seat of their pants with no discernable plan in place. As such, Peterson could return to the rotation at a moment's notice.

David Peterson Exits Early On Sunday
David Peterson (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a potential injury. The southpaw threw four scoreless innings allowing only two hits. However, Peterson appeared to tweak his back in the fifth inning and that's where it unraveled for him. He walked two batters and hit another batter before Mets manager Carlos Mendoza removed him from the contest. If he's fine, Peterson would be in line to start against the Athletics next week. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for an update following Sunday's game.

David Peterson Strikes Out Nine In Win Over Marlins
David Peterson picked up the win in a quality start over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Peterson allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out nine and walking three in the win. The veteran lefty looked good in his first start of the season, allowing just a pair of solo homers while punching out nine batters after notching more than eight strikeouts just once across 21 starts in 2024. Peterson will look to keep it going in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.

David Peterson Set To Start Game 5 For Mets
David Peterson will start Game 5 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Peterson has pitched four times this postseason and has been limited to three or fewer innings in each of those outings, meaning he will likely be on a very short leash again in a do-or-die game for the Mets. Despite the low innings total, Peterson has been solid in his outings, allowing just two earned runs over 8 ⅔ IP. He will need to be sharp again on Friday, as he will go up against Jack Flaherty in a must-win situation.

David Peterson Nails Down First Career Save In Important Moment
David Peterson finished off the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, picking up the first save of his career in a 4-2 win in Game 3 of their Wild-Card series. Peterson was tasked with facing the bottom of the Brewers lineup, which included two lefties. After giving up a leadoff single, Peterson induced a strikeout and a double play to finish off the series. It was a gutsy inning for the lefty, who could be in line for a multi-inning role out of the bullpen in the NLDS or could end up making a start. Any way you slice it, Peterson is a terrific weapon to have for the Mets.
