4 years agoKansas City Royals right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy has likely reached the end of the line in his Royals tenure after receiving word that he has a Grade 2 strain in his injured calf, which is expected to keep him off the mound for at least the next three weeks. Kennedy has made 15 appearances this season and yielded 17 runs (14 earned), including seven homers. Expected to have been the club’s closer back in March, Kennedy never so much as had a save chance in 2020. Set to become a free agent at season’s end, Kennedy will likely eye potential closer gigs on the market ahead of ‘21.--Jesse Borek
