Starling Marte Having A Stellar 2020 Season
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Starling Marte is having a solid debut season with the team. Through 29 games, he is slashing .311/.388/.443 with two home runs, 11 RBI, 18 runs and five stolen bases. He's striking out just 13.2% of the time, well below his career average of 21.7%. He isn't making as much hard contact as usual, with a hard-hit rate of 25.3% this year, compared to 38.6% last year. His barrel rate is also down from 8% last year to 5.5% so far this year. Those metrics certainly help explain his low home run total so far. However, he has eight doubles on the year and his .443 slugging percentage is comparable to his career slugging percentage of .451. Keep slotting him into your lineup as he's a steady and reliable top-15 outfielder who contributes across the board.
