Drew Pomeranz Placed On 10-Day Injured List
4 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left shoulder strain. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, August 19. Pomeranz has served as the Padres closer in recent weeks as the successor to Kirby Yates (elbow) who is out for the season. The 31-year-old has excelled as a full-time reliever, tossing nine scoreless innings to go with a 0.44 WHIP, a 39 percent strikeout rate, and four saves. With Pomeranz out, the Padres will likely institute a closer-by-committee until his return. Emilio Pagan, who got the save on Friday in the Padres' 4-3 win over Houston, Adrian Morejon and Craig Stammen may all potentially get save opportunities.
