Denny Hamlin Looking For His First Dover Win
4 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin will start from the outside pole, in second, for Saturday's Drydene 311 (Race 1) at Dover International Speedway. Hamlin comes into Dover after almost taking the win away from Chase Elliott, at the inaugural Daytona Road Course race, finishing second. Dover is one of a handful number of tracks that Hamlin has never won a Cup race on, but he will look to change that this weekend. Over 28 starts at the "Monster Mile," Hamlin only has five top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes. However, in his last eight races, Hamlin has improved at the track, scoring half of those 12 top-10 finishes. In last fall's Dover race, Hamlin led 218 of 400 laps, before finishing fifth. Hamlin doesn't have any DFS upside, because of his starting position, but with how well the No. 11 team has run this year, Hamlin will challenge for his first Dover win.
