Philadelphia Phillies utilityman Scott Kingery's rough start to the season continued with an 0-for-3 effort in a loss to the Red Sox Wednesday. Kingery is now just 6-for-55 to start the season and he is yet to record an extra-base hit. The former top-prospect is rapidly losing fantasy value as he was bumped from second base to the outfield when the team called up Alec Bohm, and the Phillies already have a crowded outfield. Kingery has been starting for now but was already batting near the bottom of the lineup and it's fair to wonder how much the Phillies can put up with his .142 wOBA. Kingery is droppable in all but the deepest fantasy formats.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller

Infielder Scott Kingery agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, avoiding salary arbitration, according to a source. Kingery was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on Nov. 1 and will head to spring training in February with the Angels hoping to win an Opening Day roster spot as infield depth with Zach Neto (shoulder) questionable to be ready for the start of the year after undergoing shoulder surgery. The 30-year-old former second-round pick of the Phillies in 2015 out of the University of Arizona will be a long shot to return any fantasy value in 2025, especially with the Angels. He didn't play at all in the big leagues in 2024 and was active for only 16 combined games in Philly in 2021 and 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Philadelphia Phillies have traded infielder Scott Kingery to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The 30-year-old has not appeared in a major league game since 2022 and has spent the past two seasons playing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Last season in the top level of the minor leagues, the former second-round pick held a .268/.314/.488 line with 17 doubles, 25 home runs, 67 RBI, and 25 stolen bases. Kingery will likely compete for a spot on the Opening Day Roster in Los Angeles but will more than likely spend most of the 2025 season in the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
