Ryan Fitzpatrick Expected To Start Over Tua Tagovailoa
4 years agoMiami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores isn't expected to name an official starting quarterback soon, but it likely won't be rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but instead 37-year-old veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey came out of retirement this year and has worked with Fitzpatrick with the Jets and Bills previously. The 22-year-old fifth overall pick not starting in Week 1 wouldn't be an indictment on his health. "It's less a health thing with Tua, it's more, he's going to have to beat out Ryan Fitzpatrick," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said. Tua is the QB of the future in Miami, but the Dolphins are taking a patient approach and want to make sure he develops fully. Fitzpatrick surprised with his play in 2019, but he'll have to continue producing in order to hold off Tagovailoa in 2020. Fitzpatrick is really only worth drafting in superflex leagues that allow you to start two QBs.
