Welcome to the August 19th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 18th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Imitation is the best form of flattery. Antonio Senzatela (8 IP, 3 H, 6 K) nearly matched Zack Greinke’s (8 IP, 3 H, 7 K).
- Joey Gallo continues to put his mark on the new stadium. Sixth stamp of approval.
- Tatis adds to SB collection. He’s will ask the 10/10-Club bouncer for entrance soon enough. He will be drafted first overall in at least one league in 2021.
- Dylan Bundy got stuck on 4s. 4 IP, 4 ER, 4 BB w/ only three K, unfortunately. Will OAK treat him nicer?
- Mike Yastrzemski smacks his sixth homer. Leads MLB w/ 2.0 WAR.
- “Hey Boss, he got rocked for five runs in the 1st. He’s done, right?” Nah, he’s young; send him out there to fight through it. Frankie Montas battered & bruised to nine earned runs and four walks in 1.2 IP.
- Sometimes you just need guys. Kole Calhoun is just a guy. Batted leadoff w/seventh launch of goodness.
- There was a Carlos Santana sighting. Second HR and fifth RBI.
- Mixed emotions. It wasn’t good for fantasy, but I’m still very happy Carlos Carrasco is playing baseball.
- If you drafted Blake Snell (second win), you’re feeling relieved and pleased. That’s more than Justin Verlander, Stephen Strasburg, and Walker Buehler owners can say so far.
- I’m dancing a jig taking my three shares of Brandon Lowe to the bank. His 43 R+RBI trails only Fernando Tatis Jr. and Anthony Santander (weren’t expecting him, were you?)
- “Wait up for me guys!” Austin Meadows working quickly to catch up w/ 3 HR, .296 AVG in last week.
- Gary Sanchez is thankful for one moment of positivity (fifth HR, .133 AVG). “Adam Dunn wasn’t this bad.” Hey, who said that?
- Shed Long has a .145 AVG over the last 15 games which has put a damper on the initial glamour.
- Batting .191 at home vs southpaws, the Dodgers wasted Tony Gonsolin’s six scoreless innings vs SEA.
- It kind of is your job to not only set the table but also clear the table as well, Trea Turner (six LOB).
- Speed is so elusive. Magneuris Sierra (28.3 ft/sec) is only 1% rostered. Wish he played more.
- Mejia, Mejia. You remind of a home run story. (4 IP, 3 ER, 1K).
- Rhys Hoskins’ 23.9-degree Launch Angle finally earned his first star. His 22.5% BB rate is already shining.
- Bryce Harper (five HR/four SB) walks into a restaurant on the Las Vegas strip & yells “Combo Meal!” There was only one distinct reply, “We call it a buffet.”
- Uncle Larry is here! Andrew McCutchen w/ a HR, SB, .296 AVG in last week.
- Zach Eflin truthers scatter. 94.8 MPH Avg Exit Velo isn't' good. Eight strikeouts though.
- Did you tell yourself, “This will be the time Nate Pearson justifies it all”? O’s left him with 4 IP, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 3 HR. Terrible to see him go on the IL.
- Chance Sisco drops the bass for the third time. Batting .303. Uh-oh. What do we have here?
- THUNDAH! This is why we drafted Randal Grichuk. Three straight HR games (four). Keep knocking ‘em down.
- Color me skeptical of starting rookies their first time out. It might alleviate the Tarik Skubal migraines this morning. 2 IP, 4 ER, 1 K.
- Do you need a 2B that just hits long balls? Jonathan Schoop (five HR) is available (12% rostered). And his .268 AVG would probably help.
- I’m sure Austin Romine sits down by the lake (or even forest) wondering why his .327 AVG is sitting in the eighth spot.
- I’d be chapped. Eight no-hit innings & 12 Kenta Maeda couldn’t get the win.
- Max Kepler was swift and nimble. He pirouetted his way to two SB.
- Watch out Keston Hiura, you’re looking like Jose Altuve recently. The bad one.
- It is Ian Happ-ening. 11.6% Brls/BBE. Those dynasty shares are increasing value.
- No, Yu Darvish. You’re not the first to four wins.
- My dearest Khris Davis. We had a good run, didn’t we? Parting is such sweet sorrow and I contemplate it with a heavy heart. It’s almost time.
- Endgame
- Jairo Diaz - allowed another run.
- Cal Quantrill (one). Pagan has not been good this year. Quantrill with a dirt-cheap one-out save.
- Brad Hand (six). He’s not going away.
- Chaz Roe (one). Another deposit in the frustration account.
- Daniel Hudson (five).
- Hmm, ok. It was only one inning, Edwin Diaz (one ER).
- Keona Kela smoothness (two K). Well, one walk.
- Anthony Bass with the win. Jordan Romano provided the lay-up.
- Rowan Wick (four). Two good outings for Craig Kimbrel.
- Taylor Rogers. What is going on?
- Cole Sulser makes it difficult. "Put me in coach." ~ Mychal Givens
- Welcome to Wednesday. We've got a great day awaiting you. Stress will find us, regardless. It's how we deal with it that matters. Only give value to the stuff that is important. Brush the rest off & relax
