Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs, a walk and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. Seager has been a beast at third base this season and his 21 RBI are tied for the 5th in the majors among all hitters. He also stole his third base of the season on Monday which is the most he has stolen in a season since 2016. In addition, his plate discipline has improved this season as he has a strikeout rate of 10.2% which is the lowest of his career. Seager owns a triple slash of .310/.388/.536 and at this point needs to be owned in all leagues.--Steve McCarthy - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager announced his retirement in a statement that was posted to Twitter by his wife on Wednesday. Seager is calling it quits after a career season in 2021 in which he posted 35 home runs and 101 RBI. In his 11 seasons in MLB, all with the Mariners, Seager recorded 242 home runs, 807 RBI and had a .251 batting average. The 34-year-old was originally a third-round pick by Seattle in 2009, and he made his big-league debut in 2011. Seager's breakout came in his second season in 2012, when he hit 20 home runs in 155 games while slashing .259/.316/.423. Abraham Toro is an option to settle into the hot corner with Seager gone in 2022, but the Mariners could address the position via free agency or trade once the lockout is lifted.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager is set to be a free agent, as assistant general manager Justin Hollander informed Seager via email Sunday that his option would be declined. Seager will receive a buyout of two million dollars. The 34-year-old slashed .212/.285/.438 with 35 homers and 101 RBI in 159 games this season and was recently named a finalist for the American League Silver Slugger award. He has not known another organization since being drafted in 2009, but wherever he catches on, the lefty swinger will be a solid corner-infield option for fantasy managers in search of power.--Doug Goldring
