BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 24% of leagues
ANALYSIS: No one expected the Detroit Tigers to be contending for a playoff spot one-third of the way through this season, and now the organization is in the precarious predicament of what to do with the upper echelon of its prospect pool. Now that Ivan Nova just hit the IL, talk is starting to heat up on the possibility that consensus top-15 prospect and former Auburn Tiger Casey Mize will replace him in the rotation.
Mize only got to make five starts in 2018 with solid success, netting a 3.95 ERA and 1.17 WHIP at the Rookie and Single-A+ levels. 2019 marked Mize's true arrival, as he produced elite figures for ERA (2.55), WHIP (0.94), HR/9 (0.4), BB/9 (1.9), and K/9 (8.7) across 109.1 IP (21 starts) at the Single-A+ and Double-A levels. With a 93-94 MPH fastball that peaks at 97 MPH and a mean cutter and slider in his repertoire, Casey Mize is a high-reward asset upon his MLB arrival, which could easily be very soon.
