Josh Hader Untouched In 2020, But Few Chances Had
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader has allowed just one baserunner through his team’s first 12 games. The issue is that Hader has pitched in just three innings combined of those contests, having earned two saves with three strikeouts to his credit. An elite closing option, Hader has been little utilized, even as he has not allowed a hard hit ball and has allowed an astounding average exit velocity of 75.8 MPH. His lack of usage is a glaring tell of where bullpens sit in 2020, even as manager Craig Counsell has bucked conventional trends in the past. Although Hader resembles fine china collecting dust of the shelf, he has proven to be a highly valuable arm when deployed; his work rate may not merit his draft position to this point, but so long as he avoids bats when pitching, he remains an elite fantasy commodity.
