5 years agoArizona Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes on Wednesday for Game 3 after taking the loss in Game 2 Tuesday. Teammate Antti Raanta is still deemed unfit to play, so instead of going to backup Adin Hill, the Coyotes will tap Kuemper for the second time in as many days. After posting a 0.930 save percentage in Game 1, Kuemper fell apart in Game 2 managing only a 0.857 save percentage on 28 shots. Kuemper did not start on consecutive days at all during the regular season this year but did so twice the previous season. He split those games, winning one and losing one while giving up only three goals on 66 combined shots. It is the smallest of sample sizes, but playing on consecutive days seemingly did not impact Kuemper's performance in the past on the rare occasion that it happened.--Russ Ivanac - RotoBaller

1 month agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper will pick up his 31st start of the season in Monday's showdown against the Vegas Golden Knights. He enters play with a three-game winning streak. Kuemper has benefited from a hot offense during this stretch, as he has allowed three goals in back-to-back starts and owns a lowly .896 save percentage over that period. The 34-year-old has previously won four starts on the bounce just once this season, going 17-6-6 overall. Kuemper's goals-against average stands at 2.22, and he has registered a .918 save percentage with two shutouts. A meeting with the Pacific Division leaders presents a difficult matchup for Kuemper, but he has been nearly unbeatable on home ice this season with a 9-1-1 record.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper will face the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday as a starter. He will hope to improve a 15-6-6 record. A lot of his success has come on home ice this season, as Kuemper has gone 7-1-1 in front of the Kings fans. He has allowed only 1.87 goals in home games while registering a .933 save percentage. Over the entire season, Kuemper has a goals-against average of 2.16 and is sporting a .921 save percentage. The Kings have won seven straight head-to-head clashes against Montreal, putting Kuemper in a strong position to improve his record on Wednesday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced en route to defeating the Florida Panthers on Wednesday evening. His lone mistake came in the second period when Evan Rodrigues found the back on the power-play. Kuemper then shut the door for the remainder of the contest. This was a nice bounce-back showing for the 34-year-old, as he allowed three goals on just 21 shots in his previous game. However, despite that disappointing performance, Kuemper has been quite productive over his last seven starts. During this stretch, the 34-year-old has posted a 5-2 record with a .957% SV and a 1.15 GAA. Kuemper remains a high-end goaltender in all formats, playing behind one of the best defensive units in the league.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper was at the top of his game in Wednesday's matchup against New Jersey, recording his second shutout of the season with 33 saves in a 3-0 win. Kuemper's work helped the Kings register an eighth consecutive home win, with the veteran netminder extending his personal point streak to eight games in the process. Dating back to Dec. 7, Kuemper has gone 6-0-2 in the Kings crease. Kuemper's improvement in form has been noticeable, as he won only one of five starts in November. The 34-year-old is sporting a 10-2-5 record for the season and has allowed 2.29 goals with a .916 save percentage. --Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
