Matt Chapman Goes Hitless In Five At-Bats
4 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman has gotten off to a brutal start in 2020 and took another 0-for-5 Saturday night in Seattle. The 27-year-old struck out three times in the game while seeing his average drop below the Mendoza line to .188. Chapman was a dark-horse MVP candidate coming into the season after launching 36 homers with a .506 slugging percentage last season, but has been one of the bigger disappointments of the young season thus far. Fantasy owners should stick with Chapman, however, as his 55 percent hard-hit rate and 94.7 MPH average exit velocity are both in the top-10 percent of the league so the hits should start falling if he can keep making good contact.
