Rowan Wick Nails Down Save, Craig Kimbrel Not Used
4 years agoChicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Rowan Wick was tabbed to earn the save in Saturday’s game against the Pirates. After manager David Ross was asked earlier in the day about whether or not Craig Kimbrel was his closer after two rough outings thus far in 2020, Wick earned his third career save. While owners will want to get confirmation from Ross himself, it appears Wick could be used in the closer’s role moving forward, as he was especially stingy on right-handed-hitting last year, limiting batters to a .147 average and .433 OPS. Having now worked 44 ⅓ career big league innings, Wick has yielded just a single home run. For those owners in tight competition for saves, he is worth a look in the short-term with excellent upside.
